New year 2014, new ceramic trends

The new year arrives and with it new trends in decoration and interior design. In recent international exhibitions and now in the countdown to Cevisama 2014 exhibition, Spanish manufacturers will showcase their new collections, which perfectly follow these new trends.

New decorative lines that reach all parts of the house, inside and outside, without focusing on a single area: Motifs resize the leading to maxi patterned walls; hexagon sets trend, compared to basic-shaped traditional flooring; reliefs stay but converted into finer details and the most striking compositions follow the principles of patchwork ...

To keep abreast of the latest in ceramic tile wall and floor coverings, we review some of the styles you will see in the coming months:

Hidraulic by Art Antic
The legacy of our classics. Typical traditional tiles, which for some time have been rescued from tradition, are renewed by ceramics firms. 10×10cm tiles returning to our homes . A touch of nostalgia!

Unicer Cerámica
Maxi prints. Extra large prints, ideal for filling a wall with very striking XL motifs with lots of colour. Flowers, botanicals, vegetables and so on flood walls that contrasts with the rest in plain colours.
White by Dune Ceramica

Mr. Volume. Reliefs are timeless. That volumetric accent is obtained through very bright enamel finishes in pure colours: white, black, pale red...

Hexagon by Cevica
Hexagonal World. These hexagonal pieces can be placed alternating their colours and creating a space with an actual essence. Using the most rustic clay pieces in ochre and earth tones, rooms get a touch of contemporary naturalness.
Tiger by Gaya Forés

Always natural. Ceramic wood helps to create a serene and natural atmosphere wherever they are placed. Attention to classical models in square format with small parts ... they will become a must.

Ceramic patchwork. It's a trend that continues this year. The mix & match collections created according to this textile technique apply equally to the living-room floor or the main kitchen wall, so that each composition can have the personal hallmark of the homeowners.
Absolut series by Ceracasa

Tassel by Vives
Mirror effect. Spaces will shine to the maximum with the latest addition of special polishing technique to achieve ultra reflex effect. Thus, ceramic floor tiles which remind of marble and onyx stones take on a new dimension.

Ceramic tiles by Vives Ceramica in national and international architecture projects

Along the year 2013 Vives Cerámica has dressed with its products a number of construction projects both nationally and internationally. Hotels, restaurants and shopping centers have relied on the design, versatility, style and performance of the newest ceramic coverings by Vives to coat walls, floors, façades and common areas.

International projects

The Villa Sandini Spa Hotel, located in Sandim, Portugal and designed with an innovative chic-rustic style after the renovation of a whole ancient building, chose Polinesia Collection by Vives Cerámica for its exteriors: Moorea-R tile, White and Brown, is a wood look anti-slip porcelain tile ideal for wet areas.

Some styles just can’t help but resist the test of time. Without doubt, the 60’s are a prime example. They have managed to reproduce this style in Sölvesborg (Sweden) in this restaurant called “Bella’s Diner & Bar”. A key element to achieving this desired look was VIVES 20x20cm red body Alaska, Negro and Rojo Volcan floor tiles.

Next project takes us to Vilnius (Lithuania). The Civic Grafito (60x120cm) large format has been used in this shopping centre called “Aprangos Galerija” where cement is the inspiration.

Xara Lodge is an events complex for weddings, shows etc. located in a traditional house in the Maltese countryside near Rabat-Mdina. For its decoration Vives Titan series (Paros, Mara, Unsu, Uriel and Comodo) have been used, resulting in a design which brings together both tradition and modernity with a balance and with outstanding beauty.

Located inPrague, we find this elegant and casual restaurant which has also used VIVES materials for its creative decoration: The 1900 collection, resulting in a very distinctive and avant-garde style, appealing to the most cosmopolitan of customers.

Projects in Spain

The restaurant Farándula on the Spanish Costa Brava opened last year, of vintage style where industrial elements are mixed with some of the most traditional and classical such as solid woods. The materials used were 20x20 Aranjuez collection, specifically the products Yeles, Alcazar, Batres y Bargas for the wall covering and Güell-1 from the 1900 collection for the floors. In conclusion, the creativity used in the design and decoration within this premises shows the possibilities when different styles are brought together.

On the Galician Costa de Morte, Benboa restaurant has opened, as a fusion of various different concepts at the same time: restaurant and market. Vives have helped to decorate this innovative place by using the Mugat Blanco 10x20cm and the floor tiles: Orsa - 21x89 antislip C3 and Dorset marrón 31.6x31.6 cm.
The result has been a modern decoration which contrasts perfectly with the essence of the tradition served up.

Just a few metres from the Levante beach in Benidorm, the Hotel Ambassador Playa is located with its excellent facilities creating an ambience of relaxation and well-being. For the its new image they have used Vives tiles to create this atmosphere in the Explorers Club restaurant and café area: The1900 collection (Basalto, Gris, Calvet, Terrades, Llagostera y Gibert) gives a vintage style to the decoration helping replicate an old and traditional train station.

Castellon's Sisif bar & restaurant has recently opened its doors and has also used Vives ceramic tiles. This project shows the Montaner Azul tile which belongs to 1900 collection (20x20cm)combining it perfectly with the Blanco and Florentina tiles that are part of the same collection together with the wall tile Buril and Vano Marfil that comes from the Wäsel (20x50 cm.) collection. The bathrooms which also use our tiles combine the Buril and Vano Marfil, which also comes from the Wäsel (20x50 cm.) collection and the Ruhr Plomo (30x60 cm.) from the same range name. It is a restaurant and bar that has personality and character in which you can enjoy a delicious meal with great company and in great surroundings.

Wide Castellon ceramic sector participation at Mosbuild exhibition in Russia

Spain, the world leader in technological development, design and quality of service in the ceramic industry, travels to Russia, third destination of ceramic tile sales, with 60 companies to participate at MOSBUILD exhibition.

Year 2012 has been very positive for the ceramic tile industry, which has managed to ride out the bad times, once again, conquering the international markets, with an increase of the foreign sales by 10% worldwide.

Leading the way in innovation

The focus on differentiation and international expansion has led the Spanish ceramic tile industry to become a world leader in the implementation of programs of R & D and innovation, in order to provide end-users and professional with high value products to respond to new market needs.

Our country is a pioneer in digital printing or home automation application of tiles. The Spanish sector has also developed motion or weight sensors for use in public buildings and sidewalks.

Spanish industry also stands out for its innovative approach applied to sustainable energy development, with the so-called active surfaces, sustainable pieces that incorporate technology to positively influence the environment where they are installed.

Furthermore, according to the National Association of Frit, Ceramic Glazes and Colours (Anfecc), Spain is the world leader, thanks to investments in R &
D in the field of ceramic frits and glazes, surpassing Italy, a country traditionally pioneer in the manufacture of these products.

Russia, a gold mine for Spanish exports

The great economic potential, significant growth plans and the large number of urban projects have boosted Russia as a priority destination for Spanish exports of ceramic tiles. The major construction projects for the coming years open a range of opportunities for our industry and have generated significant demand for building materials. The largest country in the world means 7.9% of total Spanish ceramic tile sector exports.

This favorable context for the sector will be the scenario for 60 Spanish companies of ceramic tiles and bathroom equipment, which will participate at MOSBUILD exhibition, within the CERSANEX frame. The 18th meeting of this annual event will be held in Moscow between 16th and 19th April. The Spanish industry participation is supported by ICEX and Tile of Spain.

The Spanish Pavilion, which has an area of 2,400 square meters, will feature 55 companies belonging to the ceramic tile and subsidiary industries sectors and other 5 of bathroom equipment. The vast majority comes from Castellón province and many are Globbarea Virtual Fair participants such as Azteca, Azulev / Sanchis, Ceracasa, Encrypt, Colorker, El Molino, Fritta, Gaya Fores, Oset Group, Kerajet, Peronda, Saloni, Tau, Vives and Zirconium.

During the course of the event, in the framework of the Spanish Official Pavilion, various promotional activities will take place, such as a press conference for journalists from design, interior design and architecture magazines which will be held on April 16, or the "Tile Story" Awards ceremony on the 17th April, promoted by Tile of Spain.

The next few years will bring many changes for wall and floor tiles. CERACASA summarizes the most important ones to keep you informed about the latest trends in design and ceramic solutions.

The best quality proposals, such as those by CERACASA, have to do with the variety and uses of these tile coverings, both for the home and in offices and shops, or in the unique architecture, with facades and large format tiles.

PERSONALIZATION: THE DIGITAL ERA
CERACASA, awarded a price as early as in 2007 for EMOTILE product, a series of digital personalization of ceramics, continues to bring new proposals on this line.
More than 7,000 unique and personalized projects worldwide, with all kinds of creativity and effects, from a restaurant floor or a façade.

MORE WOOD!

The imitation of wood, with the performance of ceramics, will increase. CERACASA has models that will sure fit your tastes: ROBLE, NATURE, TIMBER, OAK or WOO are among wide offer to decorate your kitchen, bath or pool with full guarantee.

THE SILKIEST STONE THAT... SAVES WATER.

Textures that imitate natural stone are the trend, in light and sand colours with a shade of graphite or almost black, in our series INDUS or SANDSTONE. Its SOFT finish can reduce up to 50% the water consumption for cleaning, because thanks to its vitrified texture it keeps clean longer.

BIGGER FORMATS, LESS GROUT JOINTS
The trend of large formats will be seen in floors around the home or common areas.
It can be installed on floors and walls, indoors or outdoors. The use of these formats minimizes the visual impact of the grout joint, boosting the sense of continuity on the floor or wall.

SHINE: ELEGANCE ABOVE ALL

If we think of the aspect that will set the trend in the coming years, that is the increase in gloss finish on all collections. All kinds Porcelain and wall tiles will be

THE TECHNICAL CERAMIC WALL BY TAU CERAMICA

A wall that sounds & soundproofs, smells & freshens, that heats & cools, insulates & ventilates, that acts & responds, that’s hygienic, safe and removable.
The latest technology, hidden but noticeable. Innovation servicing sustainability and quality of life.

Who hasn’t ever had problems with unsightly, tangled lengths of electrical cable & plugs cluttering their home? The normal solution may be complex, perhaps impossible, or at least involve major alteration work.

Now, things don't have to be that way. The Technical Ceramic Wall available from TAU Group’s S3 division resolves these issues. It houses all the technology we need to enhance our lifestyle & well-being while improving aesthetics in the home and maximising living space. The Technical Ceramic Wall is a vertical extension of a removable floor behind which all wiring and fittings for domestic appliances, devices and electrical equipment is concealed.

The wall itself both controls and performs functions. By functions we mean, for example, audio/visual systems, lighting, communications, heating, air-conditioning, humidity, even aroma essence injection. It is entirely child-friendly, stain-resistant and easy to clean – it can even be taken down.

The technical wall together with its removable floor should be an essential part of any room, at home or at work.

This innovation from S3 is part of the TAU in PROGRESS project. TAU in PROGRESS aims to continually improve & develop the products and services we provide, to enhance our client relationships and to consolidate the business we share.

VIVES, THE CHARM OF PORCELAIN WOOD

When talking about porcelain wood, we talk about tradition, both past and present since experiences can be reflected in this kind of material. For that reason, wood is given great importance in VIVES collections and due to the fact that it matches with different styles.

Wood has always been used by designers to create innovative settings. This material provides elegance, quality and style to areas and that is why few materials can compete with it. Porcelain tiles are able to transmit the power of wood, playing with a huge number of shades, patterns, textures, formats and these can then all be combined.

Investing in porcelain woods is always a safe bet and VIVES has developed a wide variety of collections to live up to our clients’ expectations.

The Legend collection is used in both indoor and outdoor settings due to its anti-slip finish. The Avesta collection provides a classical inspiration of natural wood. In order to create the Polinesia collection, water accumulation on outdoor surfaces has been studied to provide more security and protection.

The Salonga collection has a pattern whose design is suited to the most avant-garde settings thanks to its wide range of colours.

The Skandia collection is based on a Scandinavian design, a worldwide reference, and consists of the following collections: Feroe, Fionia, Kinda, Orsa and Arhus.

The Kinda Collection looks like an industrial parquet and can be easily adapted to any kind of setting. The Orsa collection is designed to offer warmth and relaxation to places thanks to its natural texture.

The Urbino collection, consisting of Aralia, Erica, Luma and Letia, is a by-word for elegance and a design creating a cosy setting. To finish with, the Woodline collection is divided in three well-appreciated products by interior designers: Zebrano, Olivo and Ebano.

VIVES Azulejos y Gres have started the year with optimism for the year coming and for this reason we wish to demonstrate our determination and commitment within the tile sector by exhibiting at Cevisama. It is here where we wish to welcome visitors so that they can come and get to know the company, its values, its latest products, projects and services.

THE SPANISH COMPANY CERAMICA SALONI MANTAIN ITS COMMITMENT TO RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT WITH LAMMAX MATERIAL

Cerámica Saloni, a spanish leader in the design, manufacture and marketing of ceramic coatings, carried a perfect combination of engineering, architecture, design and technology in the Pulpí Health Center in Spain, with the use of its revolutionary LAMMAX material.

The system chosen for the closing of the center has been the ventilated façade with 3x1 sheets with holes to let the light inside.
