8 reasons to choose ceramic tiles to dress up your home

Today, consumers opt for intelligent and moderate consumption, investing in versatile and durable quality products. Therefore, wall and floor ceramic tiles are one of the best options when it comes to dress your home. In addition to its resistance, they require minimum care, are easy to install and combine perfectly with other materials.

Anti-slip: Lava series by Keraben

The following are the reasons that make ceramic tiles become your perfect ally when refurbishing any living space, or when setting up your first home, a rented house or a second home:

1. It is a natural product. The raw material ceramic tile is made of comes from earth (clay), which together with water and fire, make this material a natural product.

2. Durable and resistant. A distinct advantage offered by ceramic tiles over other materials is its durability. It is a very resistant material with the passage of time, wearing out and temperature changes.

3. Anti-allergic and hygienic. For their antibacterial properties and their waterproof nature, ceramic tiles have emerged as the preferred material when covering floors and walls of rooms such as the bathroom and the kitchen.

4. Anti-slip. Some ceramic floor tiles modify their surface finish without altering the aesthetics to adapt their slip-resistance performance. They are useful, for example, in high traffic areas, in wet conditions, for barefoot walking in spas, showers, etc.
Versatile: Cevica Cerámica

5. Countless designs. The variety of styles found in wall and floor tiles makes them a perfect fit anywhere in the house. Infinite formats, colours, finishes, sizes and thousands of possible combinations make imagination the only limit to the use of ceramic tiles.

6. Versatile. Ceramic materials can be used in a wide variety of spaces, both indoors and outdoors. We cannot only renovate floors and walls with them, but tiles are also perfect for covering built-in furniture or decorative elements (built-in wardrobes, dressers, bookcases, headboards ...). Using a little of creativity and harmonized with other decoration elements, ceramic floor and wall tiles can transform a room into a place with lots of charm.

Decorative option: Geom Gold by Alea Experience

7. Easy to maintain. Ceramic tiles do not require special attention. Only regular cleaning with a damp cloth and, if the surface has some dirt or grease, cleaning agents such as detergents or bleach can be added.

8. A perfect decorative option. The Spanish ceramic tiles manufacturers continue to expand the variety and price range of ceramic collections, multiplying the chance of finding the ideal decorative option for the interior or exterior of your house, whether it is something basic and low budget, or renovations seeking more exceptional materials.

Specifically, the DAP is a type III ecolabel pioneer in Spain which is already applied in other countries such as Norway, Canada, Japan , South Korea , Germany, Holland , Switzerland and France, and is under establishment in Denmark and Italy.

Representatives of the companies awarded EPD certification
The AENOR GlobalEPD program, which allows obtaining Environmental Product Declarations , is currently a voluntary certification system , but it can become a very important factor for companies or sectors in order to promote competitiveness against competition from other countries and facilitate access to markets with a higher level of environmental awareness in the international arena.

Peronda's EPD certification

Ceracasa ceramica participated in a seminar on construction solutions to reduce air pollution.

Last 20th June an interesting seminar took place in Madrid, in the School of Civil Engineering, about air quality of our cities and the different solutions available to reduce air pollution, such as photocatalysis.

The seminar was organized by AIF, the Iberian Association of Photocatalysis, formed by big companies in various sectors, among which is Ceracasa. AIF has the support of scientific members such as EPTISA, ICP, AIDICO, ITQ, Tecnalia, CARTIF TECHNOLOGY CENTRE and other institutions that provide great value to the process of photocatalysis in the construction and rehabilitation.

The photocatalysis starts from the natural principle of decontamination of nature by eliminating most common pollutants by an oxidation process activated by sun energy.

Through photocatalysis, some of the pollutants as common as harmful existing in our cities can be eliminated: nitrogen oxides NOx, nitric acid, HNO3, O3, SOx, VOCs, CO, methyl mercaptan, chlorinated organic compounds and poly aromatics compounds.

The symposium was attended by leading speakers, and was coordinated by EPTISA: they all provided solutions and diverse opinions on this important topic.

Fran Raya from CERACASA, as Vice President of AIF's external relations, gave an interesting presentation on applications of decontaminating products called "The Photocatalytic Island".

Ceracasa counts among its ceramic product range with Bionictile®, a porcelain wall covering with photocatalytic properties, " ceramic facade which decontaminates the air", which has earned the company more than a dozen awards, both nationally and internationally.

TAU Ceramica develops an innovative product presentation system: iTAU

iTAU is a new system that combines Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality technologies oriented to the presentation of ceramic products.

This System for the creation of ambiences is the main result of nearly two years of work and has been developed by a multidisciplinary team and innovative techniques that enable the display of very high resolution images on mobile devices.

It has been developed for these three platforms:
  • PC with display on large screens of about 50 inches through a Microsoft Kinect device.

  • Android tablets

The product presentation is important in the ceramic sector business environment and a key element in their marketing strategies. Besides, we know that this presentation has a decisive influence when choosing a product. Consumers demand not only new products but also new forms of presentation.

iTAU can read QR codes, which identify the selected collections in visit to the store. Instantly it builds simulations of "real" ambiences and it creates the various combinations at our choice, changing the models.

iTAU is very user friendly and completely intuitive. Users are surprised by the speed, ease and quality of the ambiences.

Azteca Ceramica and FC Barcelona have reached an agreement to create the first official collection of FC Barcelona football team ceramic wall and floor tiles. The world launch took place at Cersaie Exhibition 2012, the most important ceramics trade fair in the sector, held at the end of September.

The Spanish company Azteca reached an agreement with the club whereby images of the players as well as the club’s badge and other murals with group poses, will be produced in this new support system.
In total, two types of formats of floor tiles have been designed:  31 x 31 cm. in red body, and 45 x 45 cm. in porcelain tile. The pieces for wall tiles are in 30 x 60 cm white body.

Azteca has pioneered the introduction of football passion into the ceramic tile market. The product is aimed at distinct markets, from the Club itself to the fans who wish to bring their passion into the tiles of their homes, not forgetting the fan clubs, hotels, restaurants or diverse types of businesses that wish to express their support for the Spanish team in an original and exclusive way.

Yugo and Faro series by Vives Ceramica: Making a difference

All collections should have at least one product which makes its range special and different. Yugo, part of the Bunker collection, plays this role making an instant impact with its vivid colours which are highlighted when placed together with the neutral base tiles named Faro.

This collection is especially interesting due to its appearance replicating aged wood that has been worn down by the elements, giving each piece an individual character. This helps give a warmth and vanguard look to any room where it is used in conjunction with the Bunker range.

Faro and Yugo are porcelain tiles and available in sizes of 14,4x89,3cm. The Timon and Cincel special pieces should also be highlighted as they help create even more originality.

The romantic tones from the French Provence take possession of bath, making a space where time goes by. The relaxing salmon colour from Avignon-R and the decorative country motifs offer us a pleasant trip to the Campagne: a place with no hurries, no prejudices, where everything moves in a natural way. It is a refuge for the daily stress where you manage the rules.

The combination capacity of the Provence Collection is almost infinite. With Digne-B model, we can integrate any element that will be enhanced thanks to its delicate sparkles. In this case, the room is completed by the warm tones of the Antigua-R wood.
