No wonder the growing interest of 'Tile of Spain' in the Moscow show, as the Russian Federation is the third best buyer of Spanish tiles worldwide, surpassed only by France and Saudi Arabia. Tile exports to Russia amounted to 157.6 million euros between January and November 2013 , meaning an increase of 5.3 percent from the previous year.

In recent years an increasing number of ceramic tile companies from Castellón are exhibiting at the event, whereas a decade ago Castellon presence was merely symbolic. The value of the exhibition increases if you consider how it has spread, not only among professionals of the Russian Federation, but also among the former Soviet republics and Eastern Europe, which consider it as their great fair reference.

8 reasons to choose ceramic tiles to dress up your home

Today, consumers opt for intelligent and moderate consumption, investing in versatile and durable quality products. Therefore, wall and floor ceramic tiles are one of the best options when it comes to dress your home. In addition to its resistance, they require minimum care, are easy to install and combine perfectly with other materials.

Anti-slip: Lava series by Keraben

The following are the reasons that make ceramic tiles become your perfect ally when refurbishing any living space, or when setting up your first home, a rented house or a second home:

1. It is a natural product. The raw material ceramic tile is made of comes from earth (clay), which together with water and fire, make this material a natural product.

2. Durable and resistant. A distinct advantage offered by ceramic tiles over other materials is its durability. It is a very resistant material with the passage of time, wearing out and temperature changes.

3. Anti-allergic and hygienic. For their antibacterial properties and their waterproof nature, ceramic tiles have emerged as the preferred material when covering floors and walls of rooms such as the bathroom and the kitchen.

4. Anti-slip. Some ceramic floor tiles modify their surface finish without altering the aesthetics to adapt their slip-resistance performance. They are useful, for example, in high traffic areas, in wet conditions, for barefoot walking in spas, showers, etc.
Versatile: Cevica Cerámica

5. Countless designs. The variety of styles found in wall and floor tiles makes them a perfect fit anywhere in the house. Infinite formats, colours, finishes, sizes and thousands of possible combinations make imagination the only limit to the use of ceramic tiles.

6. Versatile. Ceramic materials can be used in a wide variety of spaces, both indoors and outdoors. We cannot only renovate floors and walls with them, but tiles are also perfect for covering built-in furniture or decorative elements (built-in wardrobes, dressers, bookcases, headboards ...). Using a little of creativity and harmonized with other decoration elements, ceramic floor and wall tiles can transform a room into a place with lots of charm.

Decorative option: Geom Gold by Alea Experience

7. Easy to maintain. Ceramic tiles do not require special attention. Only regular cleaning with a damp cloth and, if the surface has some dirt or grease, cleaning agents such as detergents or bleach can be added.

8. A perfect decorative option. The Spanish ceramic tiles manufacturers continue to expand the variety and price range of ceramic collections, multiplying the chance of finding the ideal decorative option for the interior or exterior of your house, whether it is something basic and low budget, or renovations seeking more exceptional materials.

New year 2014, new ceramic trends

The new year arrives and with it new trends in decoration and interior design. In recent international exhibitions and now in the countdown to Cevisama 2014 exhibition, Spanish manufacturers will showcase their new collections, which perfectly follow these new trends.

New decorative lines that reach all parts of the house, inside and outside, without focusing on a single area: Motifs resize the leading to maxi patterned walls; hexagon sets trend, compared to basic-shaped traditional flooring; reliefs stay but converted into finer details and the most striking compositions follow the principles of patchwork ...

To keep abreast of the latest in ceramic tile wall and floor coverings, we review some of the styles you will see in the coming months:

Hidraulic by Art Antic
The legacy of our classics. Typical traditional tiles, which for some time have been rescued from tradition, are renewed by ceramics firms. 10×10cm tiles returning to our homes . A touch of nostalgia!

Unicer Cerámica
Maxi prints. Extra large prints, ideal for filling a wall with very striking XL motifs with lots of colour. Flowers, botanicals, vegetables and so on flood walls that contrasts with the rest in plain colours.
White by Dune Ceramica

Mr. Volume. Reliefs are timeless. That volumetric accent is obtained through very bright enamel finishes in pure colours: white, black, pale red...

Hexagon by Cevica
Hexagonal World. These hexagonal pieces can be placed alternating their colours and creating a space with an actual essence. Using the most rustic clay pieces in ochre and earth tones, rooms get a touch of contemporary naturalness.
Tiger by Gaya Forés

Always natural. Ceramic wood helps to create a serene and natural atmosphere wherever they are placed. Attention to classical models in square format with small parts ... they will become a must.

Ceramic patchwork. It's a trend that continues this year. The mix & match collections created according to this textile technique apply equally to the living-room floor or the main kitchen wall, so that each composition can have the personal hallmark of the homeowners.
Absolut series by Ceracasa

Tassel by Vives
Mirror effect. Spaces will shine to the maximum with the latest addition of special polishing technique to achieve ultra reflex effect. Thus, ceramic floor tiles which remind of marble and onyx stones take on a new dimension.

Cifre Ceramica presents ceramic tiles against cold

We often hear those people who say: “I’m going for a wooden floor at home because it is warmer than ceramic tiles”. At Cifre Cerámica, maybe because they like ceramic tiles above all, do not agree at all. Ceramic tiles, especially thanks to the new natural textures that it reproduces, can create an equally warm and cozy atmosphere. Besides, it is the perfect material for its high resistance to cold and heat.

The ceramic tiles that reproduce wooden textures is one of the best ways of creating warm interiors.
There are fewer materials as warm as painted wall papers. The ceramic tiles of our “Passione” collection turn into a paper-covered wall to create this cozy bathroom.

Ceramics and wood get together in this setting from the Marat collection, where both materials and color shade create warmth.

Spanish ceramic tile industry leads the obtaining of AENOR GlobalEPD sustainable product eco-labels.

On 29th November eleven major ceramic tile manufacturers in the Castellón cluster received the Environmental Product Declaration AENOR GlobaEPD certification, making the ceramic industry in our region a leader in terms of obtaining eco-labels at national level. Some of the companies that obtained this certification are:  Ceracasa, Peronda, Azulev, Ceramica Ribesalbes, GayaforesKeraben and Azteca, as well as Vives Ceramica and Colorker, which had already obtained this eco-label.

Ceracasa with sustainable product BionicTile
Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) is a system of European eco-labelling of products in the construction sector which can certify the environmental impact throughout the life cycle of products and eco-efficient manufacturing process. Specifically, the DAP is a type III ecolabel pioneer in Spain which is already applied in other countries such as Norway, Canada, Japan , South Korea , Germany, Holland , Switzerland and France, and is under establishment in Denmark and Italy.

Representatives of the companies awarded EPD certification
The AENOR GlobalEPD program, which allows obtaining Environmental Product Declarations , is currently a voluntary certification system , but it can become a very important factor for companies or sectors in order to promote competitiveness against competition from other countries and facilitate access to markets with a higher level of environmental awareness in the international arena.

Peronda's EPD certification
The Spanish industry of ceramic wall and floor tiles is aware of the capacity of ceramic coverings as a material to build a more sustainable architecture. Recently they launched a website (www.spaintiles.info/eco) with the aim of informing about the characteristics of ceramic tiles, showing examples of sustainable projects , disseminating the studies carried out in R & D, and presenting the ceramic latest innovations in terms of sustainability.
